Declaración de Ética
The Revista Iberoamericana de Docencia, Investigación y Desarrollo subscribes to the Code of Conduct for Editors of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), meaning that all articles it publishes are governed by internationally established ethical and quality standards for each stage of the editorial process and the actors involved in them, including the latter: authors, editors, reviewers, correctors, translators and general management. For this reason, any of the manifestations of plagiarism, favoritism or other unethical behaviors that may be detected during editorial management and that may violate the seriousness and credibility of the magazine are inadmissible.
Similarly, the Revista Iberoamericana de Docencia, Investigación y Desarrollo has defined the functions to be performed by the members of its Editorial Committee, which are explained below:
- Publisher Responsibilities:
Selection of publications: They are responsible for the selection of manuscripts that will be published in the journal, always complying with the ethical standards and legal guidelines previously established by the journal, especially those pertaining to the prevention of defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism. They have the authority to discuss decisions related to the selection of articles with the Scientific Council.
Non-discrimination clause: Publishers will review manuscripts and make decisions about them, regardless of skin color, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnicity, nationality or political ideology of authors.
Confidentiality Agreement: Like any other member of the Editorial Committee, they are prohibited from disclosing information about the manuscript sent to persons other than the corresponding author, such as reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial counselors, or publishers.
Transparency and interests: Publishers and any other member of the Editorial Committee are prohibited from using the manuscripts in their own research, unless they have obtained the express written consent of the author. They must also refrain from texts that represent a conflict of interest as a result of any possible connection, whether competitive or mutual, with their authors, institutions, companies, etc.
- Responsibilities of the members of the Scientific Council (reviewers):
Confidentiality: All manuscripts submitted for review are considered confidential documents, for this reason they will not be discussed or presented to anyone outside the editorial process, according to the established flowchart.
Punctuality: As time and knowledge are key factors for the timely publication of the articles under evaluation, reviewers who at the time of delivery of the manuscripts cannot carry out with the quality, transparency and speed of the revision thereof, should reject such responsibility before the publisher, explaining the reasons why they cannot be involved in that process.
Requirements for objectivity: Criticism of the texts under review should be made in a neutral manner, focusing opinions on the basis of reasonable arguments.
Entry into editorial evaluation: Evaluations must be carried out with established scientific rigor and must provide the information required by the publisher for decision-making.
Source recognition: This function requires reviewers to take into account, by their cultural background and mastery of the topics addressed in the manuscript, the recognition of that material present in the text and not cited by the author; and if there is any considerable similarity between the referenced articles and the manuscript under consideration.
Transparency and interests: Private information and ideas collected through peer review should remain classified and not be used for the benefit of the reviewer, who must refrain from manuscripts representing a conflict of interest as a result of any possible connection, whether competitive or mutual, with its authors, institutions, companies, etc.
- Responsibilities of the author:
Principles of research: The authors are responsible for presenting the original research, regardless of their area of knowledge, with a truthful description of the methodology and methods used, and an objective discussion of the importance of the results of it. The written report should adequately use the grammar of the language in which the manuscript is elaborated, as well as respect the basic principles of scientific writing, while still including the details and references necessary for others to use the results of the research. Deliberately false or incorrect statements that violate the integrity and ethics of the magazine will not be admissible.
Redundant, numerous or simultaneous publication: Authors whose manuscripts are similar to other (of their) own materials that are subject to evaluation in more than one primary journal or publication, and who exhibit results identical to those submitted to RIDID, will be banned. Such behavior is not compatible with the integrity and ethics of the magazine, therefore the authors undertake to ensure that the submitted manuscript is original work and does not infringe the rights of third parties.
Authenticity and plagiarism: As has been reaffirmed in a cross-cutting manner, the articles sent to the RIDID must be completely original, which means that any work that has served as a background or theoretical framework, has been duly referenced in the text. Plagiarism will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Authorship of the article: Authorship belongs to individuals who actively participated in the design, implementation, evaluation or understanding of the article; Thus, all those who contributed to their completion, in one way or another, must be recognized by the author as co-authors. Other people who contributed to the research may be listed as contributors. It is the responsibility of the lead author to ensure that all co-authors have reviewed the final version of the document and, consequently, have given their approval for the submission of the document to the magazine. Where the authorship of an article is shared, it should be formally stated that all authors have contributed intellectually to its elaboration; who agree with the content of the same and that the work has not previously been published in any other magazine or format.
Source recognition: Authors should include the background that influenced the contents of their work. Private investigation (communication or dialogue with third parties) is prohibited, except in cases where written evidence of the permission of such individuals is available for such purposes; as is the case of information collected through confidential methods such as manuscript revisions or grant applications.
Transparency and interests: All authors must disclose in the article any financial conflict or other conflict of interest that could interfere with the results and interpretations in their investigations. All funding for the project must be disclosed.
Fundamental errors in published research: When an author realizes a fundamental error or inaccuracy in his or her own published investigation, he or she is required to immediately notify the director or publisher in charge, by virtue of retrieving or correcting his/her article.
Translation: Authors must submit the Title, Summary and Keywords in the required languages.
Publishing Quality and Integrity
The Editorial Committee of the Revista Iberoamericana de Docencia, Investigación y Desarrollo, in order to increase its prestige and build its image as a scientific publication, strives to guarantee the highest quality of the articles it selects for its publications, subjecting them to a rigorous evaluation process (see Author Guidelines); protecting the rights to the content of themand, consequently, respecting the integrity of them.
Similarly, RIDID requires from the authors that the literature and research consulted during the preparation of their articles be within the most current and relevant sources in that area of knowledge, also giving due consideration to all universities, institutions and higher education organizations on the subject.
Method of handling unethical conduct
Whenever any negative behavior and unethical actions are identified, be it from the authors or any member of the Editorial Committee, they shall be reported to the editor in charge for further analysis and action.
Misconduct and unethical actions for authors include, in addition to the examples described above, plagiarism or falsification of research.
Any person who identifies unethical practice or conduct must provide sufficient evidence to justify the initiation of a legal investigation. All complaints must be seriously considered and treated in a similar manner, until a corresponding result or agreement is reached.
Conflict of Interest
Any article that is the result of an externally funded investigation must have publication permission from the institution to which the publication is attached.
Any trade association that may cause a conflict of interest in relation to the submitted article must be expressed by the authors.
